1. Rouge wanted to make him feel better, to let him know someone will be there he can go to with his problems. I would have said the same... or something like that, at least.
2. I saw that article on youtube. And right next to the article was a picture of Amy in her old outfit, meaning it was from the time of Sonic CD and Sonic the Fighters, meaning it was from the time Sonic was supposed to love Amy, since she was created as his love interest, and not just Amy loving Sonic insanely. Nowadays, some things have changed, like the relationship between Sonic and Amy.
(Also, I've never seen Sonic being shy to anyone. And to hide it that well, he should become an actor and quit his days of being a hero)
I know I can't, and I don't even want to, make you share my opinions, but I don't mind. Like I said in my first comment, we all have our own opinions, and it's good that way, isn't it? ^^

Well, I still think it's depending on your own opinion whether Rouge and Shadow are a couple or just close friends, but, hey, we all have our own minds and opinions (fortunately), haven't we? ^^
(I still think they are just close friends... just like I also think Sonic kinda likes Amy, but is annoyed by her plans of marrying him.)

1.YOUR STILL NOT CONVINCED!? Omg, in the next gen one, where rouge said "Know that I'll always remain by your side" doesnt give you a big enough of a hint? And remember, rouge is supposed to care only about her self.
2. In a magazine, there was a question to sega if sonic like amy, and sega replys that SONIC IS JUST SHY!!!! I'm sure if he got up the courage to tell amy he likes her, he would probably LIKE the idea of marrying her.
